We live about
20 miles West of Grand Rapids, Michigan just outside the small town
of Allendale. Our home is in the country, surrounded by woods and
beautiful scenery. My husband and I love to show our Birmans,
its a great hobby filled with fun and excitement. And we have
met a lot of very nice people. Birmans are very loving, loyal
and intelligent, whether they are show cats, or a family companion.
Birmans make a wonderful pet, as not every kitten born will
meet certain show standards, and yet the pet -quality kittens still
carry all of the beauty on the outside, and the sweet loving disposition,
intelligence and devotion that Birmans share with their family
members and company. This is what attracts us to the Birman breed,
and our family loves them as well. Our grandsons have a very special
way with our cats and kittens. If the kids want to play, our Birmans
are always eager to join in on the fun, or if the kids take a nap
or watch television they are sure to have a cat or kitten curled
up to them. From the time our babies are born, we hold them and
develop an instant love for them. Our kittens are well socialized
from the everyday holding and play time that we spend with them,
they are very special to us in every way.
The first Birman
that I fell in love with was a picture inside a book. It happened
unexpectedly. I went to the pet supply store to purchase diet dog
food for my late Rusty, a beautiful Golden Retriever. The last thing
on my mind was getting a cat. At that time, I had never heard of
the Birman breed. As I walked through the store looking for this
special dog food, I noticed a bookrack at the end of the aisle.
On the book's cover was a picture of a Birman with the most beautiful
blue eyes on it. As I stared at it, I was sure that they were staring
right back at me. I made up my mind right then and there that I
was going to get a Birman and that was final.
After searching for quite some time, I found a very special person
that had Birman kittens. After talking and getting to know each
other, I purchased my very first two kittens. I was so proud of
them, and even though they are adults now, I still think of them
as my babies. Everyday I thank that very special person, who had
faith in me and trusted me with her Birman babies. Thank you Lorraine
Van Polen of Co Line Cattery (you can check out her site by going
to her link on our home page.) Birmans make such wonderful pets
because they are not only beautiful but are very loyal, smart and
require very little grooming as a Birmans hair seldom tangles
and they shed very little.
